You don't see many disk braked MK2's do you?

  • 977469

    18 August 2006 - Andrew Harvey-Adams

Were not the sets used on Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh , Disc braked for some reason ?

    28 April 2007 - keith falconer

presumably due to the intensive, high-speed nature of the service, all of the mk2s allocated had disc brakes fitted - more consistent performance, less maintenance?

were also through-wired with 'blue star' control jumpers

Lab 5 was a track recording coach not a brake force runner as captioned.

Yes I didn't know it had gone into Europe either until I received these photos. I have more for the site taken in different countries - coming soon.

Great stuff. Looking forward to it! Never worked in the RTC long enough to get a ride in Lab 5, endless programming in K40 wasn't quite the same...

It couldn't have taken too long to do its grand tour, there's a photo of it on flickr dated 12/6/90 and it is with 47971 before it got its blue star capability https://www.flickr.com/photos/78891834@N05/11423655354/
