News - York disposals

31 October 2006 - thanks to Lerpass Mapter for this article

York has begun a clear out of redundant stock recently...

The contractor is Ron Hull Jnr of Rotherham and in the week beginning October 9th items of Fastline On-Track Plant were cut. Ballast cleaner 76218 was dismantled on October 14th along with its match wagon 975414.

The two green ballast cleaner support vans 786996 + 787327 were shunted up to the area where cutting was taking place around the same time. However these two enjoyed a reprieve for a few days (initially thought to have been saved by the nearby railway museum) although these were both cut (along with sister ferry van 786226) on October 27th.

This leaves one final ferry van 21 RIV 70 BR 214 0 328-2 (786xxx) which is currently parked with 975379. It is not known at this stage whether these vehicles are due to be scrapped too.

It is thought Ron Hull's work on site will now stop for a few weeks.

EWS have also been clearing out their redundant wagons and stock - most of it by road to Booths at Rotherham. This included long term resident of the north yard - 975658.

It's not clear what the future holds for the vintage Gresley coach ADE 320645, LMS CCT van 041379 or box van 042466.

***UPDATE 29TH NOVEMBER 2006*** The Gresley coach has now appeared on the EWS disposals list so anyone interested in saving this coach needs to move fast! See link below.
