News - Christmas round-up

22 December 2007 - thanks to Brian Loughlin, Dave Denton, Peter Hall, Dave Mant, Les Wild, John Hall for this article

A few developments over the last month...

Not a lot appears to have been disposed lately although it is thought 022285 has been cut at Saltley or certainly removed from the site.

042233 from Immingham is still present as of late December along with 72702. This was a Mk2 Gatwick Express coach intended for research trains but never used as far as I'm aware.

The remains of exhibition coach 99646 arrived from Stewarts Lane at the beginning of December.

977725 formerly stored at Clutton has moved to the Churnet Valley Railway at the beginning of September for overhaul.

Other news
68504 & 68505 have now moved from Barrow Hill after conversion into more De-icing units. They were taken with 68501 and 68508 behind 73212 & 73213 to the former Eastleigh Works site.

6260 appears to have recently moved from Ludgershall to Didcot and is thought to be also going onward to Eastleigh.

62482 has been repainted yellow and renumbered 999605 after a recent C4 overhaul at Derby.

Hand crane ADS1854 / 083332 formerly at Tonbridge and currently at Titley Jcn has been advertised for sale. See Traction Ads link below

The stock from Severn Tunnel Junction had started to be cleared by the last week before Christmas. Both bubble cars 977975 & 977976 were due to move to Long Marston for storage while 975615 & 977526 were due to go to Sims, Newport for scrap. One of the DMUs has moved while the other stock is due to move in January.

More NR sales
NR expanded their list of sales to include the other class 101 unit 977391 & 977392, BTU coaches 975080 & 975465, snowblower vans 787395 & 200715 and Severn Tunnel bubble cars 977975 & 977976. Sadly the closing date for offers was noon on December 18th so we will wait to see if any have been saved...

Merry Christmas!
We'd like to wish all visitors to the website a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year 2008!

Glad I found this site. I'm not very active at the moment but watch this space.

I still have one or two i/u wagons at Shelton Steelworks: have I missed out on something?
