Wagon to the right looks a bit like 042466 (ex York) ??

I think you are probably right!

The lack of end vents suggests that it is a former meat or banana van. The bright highlights on the axle also suggest that parts of the roof and floor as missing. It will almost certainly be a unique asset when it is restored!

I have this as ex B872042 - Insulated Meat Van, 10 Ton, No vents, "Insul Meat" Built at Wolverton in 1952 under lot 2321, diagram 1/251.

Martin,
It's an insulated meat van.
There is a ventelated meat van (4 vents each end) preserved too (see 083315).
Banana vans seem to be rather more common; they seem to have a blank section of metal where the vent would normally be, rather than corrugations right across; there are also two different styles of banana van end but the difference is quite subtle. The NRM have one, there is also one at the Lavender Line and maybe others.

To the right is indeed 042466, ex-York. Can anyone confirm that the latter's earlier number was 49208? If not, does anyone know what it was?

041421 has been partially restored in its earlier Revenue liveries: one side in the original 1952 white, and the other in its late-1960s Bauxite. It is the only example of Diagram 1/251 still on its chassis

Regarding IU 042466 the wagon record for S49208 is T0211 12 1938 82 D1458 VB condemned at location 6283 York area period 27/1966 [December 1966] and wrote off 12/1972. Endorsed see Tops condemned 27/06/1974 found at Leeman Rd York to be used as IU vehicle so I suspect that the former identity is correct which is confirmed from other wagon records I have.
