Hello,
Does anyone know what the original running number was for this wagon? It was rebuilt by the LMS using the underframe of a L&Y van. As such, it would have been 20'-0" over headstocks, instead of 17'-6", as it would be on a standard "Medfit". These conversions were used for dedicated traffic in cast iron pipes from Clay Cross and Staveley in Derbyshire. The length of the pipes would not permit the use of regular Medfits for this purpose. See the book L&Y Wagons Vol. 2, pages 449-50.
