Current owner I think is still a mystery (although I am making more enquiries) otherwise I fear these will all be soon making their way into a rather large skip in rather small pieces...

strange to see these vehicles still at the depot, they havent left for at least 20 years, the last remnants of the original MML wiring - they are all worthy of preservation as a complete train !!

They have been exposed to the elements for so long that all bodyside identification has faded away. On this side at least.

Does anyone know what W2 stands for, as carried on both ends, which while we are on the subject appear to actually be made of wood?

Wooden ends wouldn't be so surprising. As built these had full-width (wooden) end doors and drop-down flaps for loading road vehicles, so it's clearly been altered for its electrification role.

OK I have heard via DBS that they are still officially Carillion owned and I now have a contact name / number / email for anyone who is seriously interested. Contact me at the usual email, thanks.

Unless someone can show me otherwise, I don't really see a future for this train. Not wanting to knock anyone or shatter there dreams, but there's enough "Heritage Railways" full of useless tat like this owned by dreamers and tyre kickers without adding more to the pot.

I think the van is potentially useful to someone for storage as its a nice size for a small / mid-size railway project. I would also say that all "Heritage Railways" need to have a massive clear-out of the "useless tat" and accept some vehicles are just beyond repair and are never going to get restored.

I admit the wagons here are not of much use.

But are Carillion aware they own these vehicles? They probably thought they owned track machines.

Well if they didn't, they do now as my DBS email was copied into them too!
